Bord na Mona as part of an Aerial View of Newbridge Town 1965
An aerial view of Newbridge Town in 1965.
The extensive Irish Ropes factory is in the bottom left of the photograph along the entire length of Cutlery Road.
Bord na Mona occupies the site adjacent to the GAA ground and occupies some of the original barracks buildings. In this photograph the old barracks buildings still remain along the frontage of the Main Street. These buildings were demolished in the early 1970s.
At this time the Bord na Mona site housed the Central Stores for the company and also the Scientific Office (Research Centre and Library) and Engineering Workshops. The Head Office was in Dublin.
